Junebug was born on June 30th 1999.

On Friday June 30th,2006 we are haveing a   PARTY

CARROT CAKE AND CHAMPAGNE  TO CELEBRATE

JUNEBUG'S 7TH BIRTHDAY

Her dam (mother) is a registered Thoroughbred. Gentle Jenie Joker, mama was raced for several years in Maryland . Jenie now is a brood mare at a farm in Newnan and happy to be having foals.

Junebug’s sire (father) is a registered American Paint, Ebony Sun

Junebug is a registered American Paint (breeding stock) because she is not spotted.

She is also registered in the Half Bred Thoroughbred registry. The Performance Horse which is controlled through the Jockey Club.

Junebug is a twin survivor. Her larger brother died at birth. She was the smaller of the two at the time of birth, weighing about 40 lbs, now about 1000 lbs. This was not the first time Jenie had twined and she was very happy and proud to have a foal at her side.  When I saw them for the first time on that morning I said ahh look at Jenie’s little Junebug. I have called her that ever since. Her registered name is Kahlua Kidder. She was not my horse at the time of registry and it is hard to name horses because registered horses can not have the same names.

At 5 days old Junebug had heat stroke. My very special friend Mrs. Phyllis Stephenson came to the rescue and got the vet out to save this little filly’s life. I had finger surgery and did not even know what had happen until a few days later when I could get back to the barn. And the owners at this time were on vacation out of town.

One of Junebug’s front legs was slightly crooked and I would massage her leg hoping it would help it grow straight.  I took care of this little filly and her mom like they were my own.  When she was about 6 months and it was time to wean her from Jenie, my dear dear friends Milton Anthony and his wife Jane decided that this horse was not going to turn out to be what Milton had bred for. Milton at that time offered Junebug to me as a gift, since he knew I had already fallen in love with her.  How many people have friends that wonderful? You know I was in shock for a while.

Junebug was separated from Jenie and became my old horse, Rusty's, reason to stay alive. Rusty loved Junebug and was with her for 18 more months when we lost him to old age. All three of us would do things together trying to teach Junebug about being a horse with people. All the books I had read, all my friends advice and help was still not getting us where we needed to be. Then my farrier ( Dick Whitehead , who was and still is helping me with Junebug) told me that, Pat Parelli was going to be in Newnan for an all day seminar and it was free.  So Phyllis and I took off to Newnan to see Pat Parelli

What I saw that day (Pat would say wowed my socks off) was the beginning of a new horse adventure. I saw Pat Parelli and his wife Linda do things with horses I had only dreamed about doing and never thought could really happen. Junebug and I are now Parelli L-1( Partnership Level one) graduates, and are one task away from completeting our L-2 (Harmony Level two)Parelli program.

Lynda was born loving horses. I can not remember a time that I was not in love with horses.  As a little girl, living across the street from a farm, they would borrow the draft horses to pull the plow for the corn fields, I always went with the girl to get the horses and would beg to ride one of them home.
